Wood turning is a very skilled craft, there’s only one way to become the master of it and that’s experience. The longer you do it, the better you become. Fortunately for Brian he’s been using the wood-turning lathe for over 30 years so something as tricky as this comes naturally to him.
A customer who has been having work done at Matthews Restoration for over 25 years asked us to look at 6 of her chairs where the rails underneath had been chewed to pieces by her new puppy. In total there were 12 rails that had to be matched identically to the last ones.
Once Brian had turned the 12 rails they were then fitted to the chairs and French polished to match the previous colour.
